Have you thought about the advantages of audiobooks?
Hey everybody! It’s me again your Audiobook Advocate! The popularity of audiobooks has really taken off since people have begun to realize the incredible advantage of listening to their favorite book instead of reading it. The number of book titles with audiobook versions is increasing all the time.
Consider this for a minute: reading a chapter of your favorite motivational audiobook each morning before you leave for work is a great idea, but who has time for that? Now, though, you can catch that next chapter in your car on the way to work! So you get to save the time but still a gain that extra knowledge!
With the advantages of audiobooks, it’s no wonder that kids, adults, and even senior citizens have fallen in love with them.
Let me give you just a few of the specific advantages that audiobooks have over regular hardcover or paperback books:
- It’s less expensive to produce audiobooks than to produce hardcover books and paperbacks. People who love to conserve nature probably appreciate the fact that if all books were audiobooks instead of hardcovers and paperbacks, we’d save a lot more trees and keep the earth in better shape.
- There are so many areas of what used to be “dead time” that you can now use more effectively. You can listen to audiobooks while commuting to and from work. You can listen to them while you’re jogging. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination. Remember, with an audiobook someone else does the reading while you do the absorbing! Pretty cool, huh?
- My family and I love to go camping. My wife and I also love to read. But when you’re camping out in the woods, and it gets dark, finding sources of light to continue reading can sometimes be a challenge. But with audiobooks, you can listen in the dark! Think about it: you can relax in your camping chair, looking up at all the stars and listening to your favorite book. Hey, my wife and I can even listen to the same book at the same time if we run two sets of headphones into our iPod!
- Here’s another one for you parents of younger children. Think about all the time you can save by playing audiobooks to your children at bedtime rather than having you read to them. Now some of you might think that it’s not as good for the child if someone else does the reading. But consider this: you probably were not trained to talk like a rabbit, right?
But many of the narrators of children’s audiobooks were trained to read in ways that children love.
Until next time, this is your Audiobook Advocate signing off.
Happy listening!
